Rehabilitation of agricultural lands though application of biological ponds for domestic wastewater treatment in Parakar community of Armavir region

 

The goal of this project is reduction of degradation of agricultural lands in Parakar community (10000 population) of the RA Armavir marz and underground water pollution, at the same time providing sustainable use of agricultural lands, food security for the population through reconstruction of household wastewater system and construction of lagoon type wastewater treatment plant. Involve Parakar community population in the activities of the project implementation.
The project allows applying lagoon type of wastewater treatment for the first time in Armenia, which has broad application abroad, is relatively cheap and efficient. This wastewater treatment technology was adapted for Armenian conditions and the treatment structures were designed by JINJ engineering-consulting company. This technology allows treating the household wastewater to the quality required for irrigation water (reduction of BOD5 up to 42mg/l) and using the treated wastewater for irrigation purposes.
